FH Kiel wins the concrete canoe regatta in Eindhoven

How can the properties of concrete be utilized in canoe construction? The concrete canoe builders "SeaHaws" at Kiel University of Applied Sciences are addressing this question with their own concepts for a buoyant and maneuverable canoe made of concrete.

The aim is to take part in the concrete canoe regatta - organized by the "Concrete Information Centre" for more than 40 universities and educational institutions from Europe.
This year, the students from Kiel entered the international arena for the first time: they went to the European Concrete canoe race in Eindhoven!

The 20-strong concrete canoe team relied on a further development of the boat shape, including the double fin. A pleasing result: the team won both the men's 50 m and 100 m races as well as 3rd place in both the men's 200 m and mixed 100 m races.

The key to success was the interplay of enthusiastic teamwork and technical sophistication. The well thought-out construction of a filigree and innovative boat design with a double fin also impressed the jury and was awarded the innovation prize.

We look forward to continuing to support this impressive combination of sporting performance and engineering skills as a sponsor in the future!
