Planning in bridge construction from 2D to 3D

In northern Germany, we are one of the pioneers in BIM-based planning.

Although 3D-based planning is not yet mandatory in bridge construction and 2D drawings are often still standard, we decided to introduce the 3D BIM software Tekla Structures from Trimble in 2017. We see many advantages in this, such as

- Detailed, precise planning and visualization of the bridge structure.
- Early detection and elimination of potential problems.
- Flexible adaptation of plans in real time.

A concrete example of the program's application is the complete bridge design for the new BW 506 replacement structure.

"With Tekla Structures, changes can be implemented quickly - without having to redraw every line. This saves time and prevents costly errors," explains Nina Precht, a designer in our engineering team.
