Construction work on the new three-storey main building of the Herderschule in Rendsburg has begun as planned. From the outside, the new building will resemble the previous appearance - inside, however, the building will set new standards: a "learning landscape" of around 400 m² on the first floor will provide space for a variety of educational uses in future. This requires an open construction method in which our engineering team ensures the load transfer via columns and external walls.
Behind the architectural concept is a modern educational ideal: the focus is not just on factual knowledge, but on dialog, critical thinking, cooperation and democratic values.
The total cost of the construction project is around 17.5 million euros and the school is scheduled to open in 2026. During the foundation stone ceremony, Mayor Janet Sönnichsen and City President Thomas Krabbes emphasized the great importance of the school for Rendsburg. Principal Rebecca Timmermann described the new building as an important foundation for the students' development into self-confident creators. A special moment: the sixth graders of the Europa-AG added their wishes to the time capsule - for good cohesion at school and in Europe.
Finally, the mayor Janet Sönnichsen sank the capsule together with the principal Rebecca Timmermann.
